Supporting oncology navigators and having some fun: 2017 AONN Conference

Winner of the AONN Conference raffle

The PAN team had a great time exhibiting at the 8th Annual Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN) Navigation and Survivorship Conference in late November. Oncology nurse and patient navigators play an essential role in managing patients’ care and connecting them with the support they need—financial and otherwise. We chatted with navigators, shared information about PAN, engaged in a fun activity and even hosted a raffle!

In celebration of the conference theme of survivorship, we invited attendees to share their thoughts on what survivorship means to them. The responses were enlightening and inspiring—we shared them on social media in the days following the conference, and we’ve included several below.

Handwritten messages from conference attendees expressing what survivorship means to them.

To show our appreciation for hardworking oncology nurse and patient navigators, we also raffled off a self-care kit full of goodies including an insulated lunch box and water bottle holder, Bluetooth headphones, a lavender candle, chamomile tea and a water bottle. Jennifer, a nurse navigator at Rutgers Cancer Institute, was our lucky winner.

We look forward to reconvening with the wonderful oncology nurse and patient navigators at the AONN conference next year.
