PAN Foundation launches fund for arrhythmia in patients with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter

WASHINGTON, DC, October 1, 2015 – The Patient Access Network (PAN) Foundation today announced the launch of a new patient assistance program for Medicare patients being treated for arrhythmia with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter. Qualifying patients are eligible to receive grants for the out-of-pocket costs associated with their prescribed atrial fibrillation medications.

“We are very pleased that the PAN Foundation is able to alleviate the financial strain of the out-of-pocket treatment costs for people who have arrhythmia with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter,” said PAN President and CEO Daniel Klein. “This is a condition that affects 2.7 million Americans, and PAN is proud to be a part of the solution for people seeking treatment.”

According to the American Heart Association, atrial fibrillation is a quivering or irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) that can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications.

Patients who qualify for financial assistance from PAN for their prescribed treatments for arrhythmia with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter must meet the following criteria:

Patients must have Medicare insurance and it must cover the medication for which they seek assistance;
Patients must reside and receive treatment in the United States; and
Patients must have a household income at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level.

The PAN Foundation now offers nearly 60 patient assistance programs, spanning cancer, chronic illnesses and rare diseases. The fund for arrhythmia in patients with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter is the fifth fund PAN has added to its disease-specific financial assistance programs in 2015. Others include the expansion of its HIV/AIDS fund to include prevention therapies, the launch of a Parkinson’s disease fund, an ovarian cancer fund and a heart failure fund.
